As always Wilkinda speaks wisdom. In the end opinions are like butt holes, everyone has one, and just like everyone else's...mine stinks haha.

Painted calipers are ok, provided you get a decent paint job on them. IE, take them OFF the car to paint them.

Since I've got GT500 take off brakes going on in the next week or so, I'm actually kinda thinking about taking my stock calipers and putting them on ebay with a powdercoat option, whoever buys them, I'll get them powdercoated whatever color they want, have them ship me back their old calipers, and repeat the process.

I like the covers better than painting because as was already noted, i don't like the way they look painted. I'm putting on a set of GT500 Brembo take-offs, but if I wasn't I would either go stock or covers.
Right you are Wilki. As I mentioned above, I like the covers. I'd never seen them before and I don't understand why some of the posters here have such strong opinions against them. The covers aren't trying to make something out of the brakes that they aren't, just cleaning up somewhat of an eyesore, IMO.

I've seen some truly hideous examples of painted calipers. Talk about a fail...

Where can I see some examples of these covers you are talking about anyways?

I've seen some covers before for some Mazda's that were super ricey looking.

After looking at some pics...I'm not so sure. They look waaaay large. Look pretty good in this first pic, but there are others where the cover just takes away from the wheel.

I had them on my 05, they exactly covered the rear caliper, no larger. in teh front if i recall they were maybe half an inch longer on top and bottom than the caliper, which was due to where they mount. they look much better than painted calipers if you have a very open wheel design.

Im just curious.... why put something on your car that says LOOK AT MY BRAKES when they are nothing but a piece of tin that has been painted? They look fake, they don't DO anything, and they are far too large for the stock rotor size and look very out of place.

Why not just save for a bit and buy an entry level brake kit?

Again... Im just curious as to HOW this fad even happened?
