Default Different shift ***** in premium packages?

My 2010 GT is as base as a base model can get, only option I had when I bought it was the 3.73s. I REALLY wanted to get premium package in Kona Blue, but I couldn't find one that was in my price range with a stick, so I settled for a stripped down silver. And of course, I got the plastic shift **** with that.

Anyways, while strolling around the dealership today when my wifes 2010 Focus was in for its complimentary oil change, I couldn't help but look at some of the other Mustangs on the lot. Sure enough, they had 2 Kona Blue GT premiums there within my budget that were both stick. However, one of them had the standard plastic **** like mine, and the other had the nice brushed metal looking one.

Isn't that brushed metal one supposed to be standard on ALL premiums? Or is it part of a package? Same deal with the aluminum pedals, I've seen some non-premium GT's that have had them, and some premium GT's that don't.

Oddly enough, that kona blue premium GT that didn't have the aluminum ****, had the aluminum pedals. So what gives?

The aluminum **** is part of an interior package. The plastic **** is the same in the premium and the base.

400A interior package = generic plastic shift ****
401A interior package = billet ball shift ****

I made the switch on my 400A 2010 GT. I wanted the upgraded 401A **** as I prefer gripping a ball (no wise cracks, please). You just need the shift boot and the shift ****.

See this thread (more specifically, this post) for details.

Ahh....So thats what the 400A rapid spec on my window sticker is all about. I couldn't quite figure it out, I never really paid all that much attention when I was doing the "build your own" on Ford's webiste.

Does the 401A include the aluminum pedals as well? Or is that standard on all premiums?

I'm still used to owning Mazdas I guess, where you had 2 packages, sport and GT, and then you could only had a few options to the GT package.

Don't suppose you know the part number for the premium pedal covers by chance? I have yet to find a set of aftermarket ones I like. I've been searching on teamfordparts.com trying to find it, but can't come up with anything.

I'd recommend calling your local Ford dealer, their parts department should be able to give you the information. Before calling I would find a Premium 2010 GT on eBay with the same transmission as you and write down the VIN. If you give them the VIN it will guarantee the right part number so you aren't being quoted for the rubber pedal covers you already have. Once you have the part numbers, search the internet for the best prices. http://www.fordparts.com has a pretty decent search feature.

I didn't think about doing it that way.

Fordparts.com is decent for searching, I just wished you could order stuff directly OFF of them versus going thru a local dealer.

Ah bummer, the gas pedal doesn't have a replaceable pad. All one assembly @ $147 according to fordparts. No thanks, I'm cool on that.

Thanks for the help BTW, you've been pretty outstanding.
