Pedestal Spoiler Removal...need help
I am removing the pedestal spoiler for the 3d500. The bolts and the brackets came off easy enough(using the hairdryer and dental floss method). However I am left with what look like 4 thick rubber gasket stuck to the decklid. I have tried alcohol but the gasket seems to be causing the issues. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Those gasket looking things are the adhesive pads that held the thing on. I got most of it off when i did mine by being sure to get under the pad near the trunk not ht spoiler when i removed it. Depending on how old your war is it may be hard to get off. my car only being 6 months old, the parts of the pad left on the car came off with finger pressure for the most part. Also, when i replaced a spoiler on my 05 I used goo gone to remove the residue and this time around i found 3M adhesive remover in aerosol at Walmart. That 3m stuff is way better than goo gone, the residue practically fell off whereas with goo gone on the 05 it was a processor that literally took 4 hours to get the residue gone. I sprayed the stuff on a microfiber towel and just wiped it off.

after learning what i thought were rubber gaskets were actually adhesive pads i got after them with the adhesive remover. The goo gone made a mess. The 3M stuff worked great. now for another question...is there any real need for all the adhesive considering the pedestal spoiler is held down with 8 bolts? thanks for the help

The 3m tape around the 3d500 will help keep water out and not stress the bolts to hold it on by themselves (they are pretty small). You want that extra holding power.
When you tighten it down, you don't want to try and get the bolts really tight, just pretty snug and then back it off a fraction of a turn because the urethane spoiler will expand in the heat, if your bolts are too tight it will likely crack.
