Default Paint that ugly black plastic?

Ok so I just picked up my 2012 Kona blue GT and the black plastic isn't that noticeable on it but Id like to see options for getting rid of it. What are some ball park prices for painting or can I pick up prepainted sideskirts? I want to put 10" white stripes on the car and would like to do so after I fix the rear bumper lol~ speaking of stripes if I plan to go vinyl would they fade or ruin the paint?

Painting the stock plastic all round costs ~$1000 at Galpin Auto Sports (GAS)

I too wonder how painted plastics would look on my car... I think I may do it in the spring lol... BTW congrats on the car, and what part of jersey are you from? Anywhere close to Staten Island?

My friend with his 2010 Sterling Gray V6 painted the black plastic lower rear valance and front "chin" spoiler body color. His black side skirts were removed and aftermarket ones added.

Looks much better and the where the pieces line up with the front & rear bumpers, breaks up the solid one-color tone to the car.
I don't have any pictures of his car, but it looks good.

If you look in my signature my car has the siderails painted...costed me 150.00$ for both sides. I also have my rear valance painted to match.

I've also been thinking of painting the lower plastics. Mine is black so its not really a big deal but i would rather it be shiny like the rest of the car.

the problem i have seen on anything with that textured plastic painted is that you can see the texture through the paint, it looks lumpy. i just don't like the way that looks. I guess if you got a body shop to do it that cared and seriously prepped that stuff it might work out well. i had some of those plastic master cyl and battery covers on my 10 painted grabber blue. the guy though he could just prime it, sand, paint and clear. Two coats of primer, a bunch of color, and numerous clear coats later you could still see the grain.

He may have just sucked, IDK, all i know is it looked bad (to me) no one else seemed to notice. if i painted anything on my car it would need to look exactly like the stock paint or i would not be happy. FWIW i really like the black plastic. cars with that stuff painted tend to look really thick for lack of a better word
