you can pop off the cover for it on the inside of the door. Most likely a triangular piece which will pull off.
The mirror itself appears to be attached to the door itself... a little lower than the exterior triangular piece...
I'm gonna guess the door panel needs to come off, maybe a wire or two has backed out of a plug..
No, not normal. Also, it is not cable driven but electric motor. I'm not sure on the 2016, but when I changed mirrors on my 2006 the door panel didn't have to come off. Just had to pull the triangular piece off and undo the bolts that hold the mirror on the car. The mirror itself probably is just a pull it straight back removal to access the controller.
Got me wondering so I went out to my 2017, and the mirror mount is very different. Looks like you do have to remove the door panel inside to get to it now since the mirror is mounted to the door and not the "triangle" anymore.
what if you manually move that mirror side to side...would that free up the motor perhaps? Odd something so new would fail. Unless the switch is bad...
