Capless gastank. I just have to ask...
Okay guys, I'm anxiously waiting to pull the trigger on a new V6 Premium Pony. I've driven them a half dozen times and am so impressed by everything about the car. Hats off to Ford for a job well done.
But I have to ask you existing owners. ...just what do you think of the "capless" gastank? Do you find it unnerving? Do old habits die hard, and did you buy a custom cap?
Call me an idiot, but were gas caps really a problem for people? I can't even imagine what the discussion was with the design team that does value proposition analysis on various features. Kind of seems like a Dilbert cartoon doesn't it?. "Congratulations everyone, we improved something that wasn't broken, and nobody asked for." :-)
Would love to hear from you existing '11 owners. Still can't wait to pull the trigger. By the way, I've been keeping an eagle eye on the lots since July, and there hasn't been ANY new Mustang inventory. Has anyone else noticed that?

Just leave your old style removable cap just once at the gas station
(I removed the 'paint scratch producing cap strap' the very first
fill-up) and the capless design will be the next best thing since sliced bread.
If thats all thats keeping you from pulling the trigger, check out the TSBs out
on the 2010-11 models....
Locking gas caps keep unwanted substances from being introduced into
the gas tank. They have no needed function for unwanted fuel removal.
The roll-over one way valve on the fuel tank inlet does that job...

Oh no!
Someone bust a cap in our cars!!
It's actually very efficient and eliminates eventual scratching hazards like 157 said or the need to make your own hook for it...
Me? I'd just buy the cap for it still.
One less thing to clean up...

I have to fill up a vehicle with a capped fuel filler(?) every morning after work. I have to admit, when I go to fill up my own ride, I have a moment of smugness when I realize I don't have to undo some silly gas cap. This false feeling of superiority is magnified when it's like 20 degrees and I don't have to fumble with some silly gas tank cover.
