Default Interesting Article/Speed Limiter

I was reading this article on Car and Driver

http://www.caranddriver.com/features...p_2011-feature

and saw that the drivers bumped in to the 114mph rev limiter several times in their test of our V6 mustang. The performance was pretty good despite this flaw, I would love to know how much better the V6 could have done with the speed limiter removed.

If you read the whole article and check out the table at the end, it is pretty impressive that our V6 mustangs did as well as they did. If you can subtract a few seconds for the speed limiter issue, the performance is even more impressive.

I think most tunes do remove the limiter, no one wants it anyways.

Do all tunes remove this speed limiter or do you have to ask for it specifically? I have an SCT tune and I've had it for about a week, but I've only been on the street since I got it and haven't had a chance to test it to check the speed limiter.

Whats the point of giving you more power if they aren't going to let you use it

You van turn the speed limiter off with tuner or choose what speed to limit it to. A tuner also controls rpms in neutral and in drive. I have set mine as a launch control by setting neutral at 4000 rpms and learning to launch without wheel spin. It keeps rpms consistent no matter pedal position so it eliminates one variable for me to attain consistent launches. A tuner also turns off traction control and a host of other features that as a consumer I can now control. Now when the boy wants to borrow the car I can set rpms to 4500 and top speed to 55 mph. Hehehe

Ouch. My dad lets me drive his 09 GT/CS conv. with 3.73s whenever I want however I want, probably because he knows I won't screw anything up. Kinda makes me appreciate it I guess.

I don't know about the new v6s, but I have heard that the 05-09's axle grenades at like 125.

I assume you're talking about the 05-09 V6's, correct? I haven't heard any specific issues with the rear ends of the 11' v6's. And we have the 8.8 inch rear end for 11' (the same found in the GT's since 79'), not the 7.5" that came in the 05-10 V6's.

My AM/Bama Tuner will be here next week...I can't wait to load up my 93 race tune and see what this thing can really do on Friday nights at the track. My V6 premium is truly a pleasure to drive and lots of fun too, the tuner should be the incing on the cake!
