2012 test drive
so i test drove a 2012 v6 auto, coupe. not sure what gears. In any case, it seemed to me that when i gave it moderate gas, from standing stop, the shift from 3 to 4th gears, was..not slipping but delayed i guess is the word..seemed to a take an extra sec to get into next gear...can this be tuned ? thanks for any info..ryd....

It can be tuned, though probably more in timing than actual duration of the shift. I expect that there will eventually be shift kits available to tighten up these autos. They are actually based on a six speed developed for BMW several years ago, so they are new, but not all new.
Remember too, these engines are high strung. Taking advantage of that in an auto is a little different than the last generation of engines from Ford.

A tune helps significantly on an Auto. When I tuned my auto 5.0 the difference was immediate. The car just pulls so much better because it isn't trying to shift before the tach even hits 2K rpm. It gives you a good amount more real power with a tune, and it gives you monumentally more "felt" power.

thanks
thanks, this is what i was thinking, it should be a bit more responsive, i realize a v6, but more crisp shift would be better, at least by the seat of my pants,so to speak,, as soon as i take del. of car i will look for someone near me tampa area, who is not to $$$$$ for my pocket book..) thanks all,,ryd.
