4.10 Gears install
Ok so I am going to be upgrading the gears on my 2012 V6 Mustang to the ford racing 4.10 gears. On american muscle.com it shows that the gears themselves can be purchases for about $140.00 and then lists options such as a gear install kit, a traction-LOK rebuild kit with carbon disks, and 8.8in rear gear pinion bearing. My question is, are any of these options necessary if i am taking it to a shop to have them install the gears for me?

It depends. Does your shop allow you to supply the parts? Not all shops do. You should at least use a new pinion nut & crush sleeve (although I've reused them, I wouldn't do it again). If you're using FRPP gears, my understanding is that an "M" in the part number denotes the gears were sourced from Motive (can anybody else chime in here on this?). You may or may not want that.
Depending on how often the shop does this type of work, they may have the gear installation parts with the appropriate shims to do the install on hand. Having a driveline shop (transmissions & gears, or a mustang speed shop) do the work probably means that they'll have what they need on hand.
You don't need the traction-lok rebuild (unless you've been doing a lot of donuts), although the carbon upgrade clutch pack would last longer.
Give 'em a call & ask. I've been researching my 3.31 (or 3.55) gear install as well.
