2013 V6 Gear Ratios
Yesterday, I test drove a 2012 V6 Premuim, but ended up ordering a 2013 since my choice of color/options was not available on the 2012.
This morning I notice that the 3.31 gear ration that was standard on the 2012 is now an option on the 2013.
Is it worth upgrading to the 3.31`s ? Since I test drove a 2012 , will I find a significant difference with the now standard 2.73 gears ?
Thanks in advance.

The 3.31 were standard on the Performance package in 2012, I paid about $300 to have them added to my Premium package. I have the manual trans, here's how the max speeds break down.
-- 3.31 - 3.73
1st- 39 - 35
2nd - 65 - 57
3rd - 99 - 88
4th -133 - 118
Speed at 3,000 RPM (I usually shift at 3,000 RPM)
-- 3.31 - 3.73
1st - 17- 15
2nd - 28 - 25
3rd - 43 - 38
4th - 58 - 51
5th - 72 - 64
6th - 103 - 91
RPM at 70 MPH
5th - 2900 - 3250
6th - 2050 - 2300
If I am cruising with the Revs over 2000 RPM, my mileage starts to drop. Under 1900 the engine bogs down in 5th or 6th.
If I had the 3.73, I'd be doing a little more shifting in town and lose a couple MPG on the highway, neither would be an improvement for the type of driving I do. I get about 24 MPG in town and 30-32 on the freeway. btw, I can spin the factory 17" tires at will in first gear, not sure having 3.73s or 4.10s would help me at all.
I rented a couple of 2012 V6 autos, they we both boring, I'd would have like to have tried them with the 3.73s not the factory 2.73s. I'm sure the 3.73s or 4.10 are good for the track if you have an auto.
