What us the difference between the Auto Trans in the V6 vs the V8. I am thinking of doing a Procharger and I am wondering if the Trans in my V6 can handle the extra power.

If it is like the 2005-10 the transmission then was the same (5r55s) but the input shafts were different so they weren't iinterchangeable. But other than that they were the same. I haven't seen the comparison for the 2011+ though. They do take the same filter according to rockauto.com but it doesn't say what the actual transmission is.

AM's '11 v6 project car is an auto, with procharger on it. Believe they are putting 470ish down at the crank w/ procharger and other mods safely, and being run at the dragstrip?

Both the V-6 and the V-8 use the 6R80 automatic transmission, but have different gearing.

2012 GT gear ratios:

1st 4.17
2nd 2.34
3rd 1.52
4th 1.14
5th 0.87
6th 0.69

2012 V-6 gear ratios:

1st 4.171
2nd 2.34
3rd 1.52
4th 1.43
5th 0.86
6th 0.69

Also V8 Trannys have more Clutch Frictions and Plates in the Drums, and I think FIRMMER Shift Pressures. A little more heavier duty than a V6 Tranny.

After looking at the AM video of the V6 project car I think the Transmission can handle the Procharger. Now all I have to do is convince my wife that it will be $$$ well spent O:-)

HEY! Tell her you're going to get great gas mileage now. Just don't tell her that's just while it's sitting in the driveway though.
