Well, I just ordered the X4 BAMA Tuner from American Muscle, today. With no other mods, I'm curious how much of a "seat of the pants" difference it's gonna make. Anyone else remember what it was like to have only the tuner and no other bolt-ons wanna chime in?

Thanks.

Oh yeah...V6 M/T!

Glad to hear it went through! and replied to your PM -You'll be embarrassing GT's in no time! I remember my first weeks here in late 2010 early 11 when we picked up our V6. I ran my mouth extensively until I tried to pull on it!! You're definitely going to feel it. Be sure to post up a review after a few miles so we can get your take.

As always don't hesitate to let me know if you're to have any questions in the meantime and enjoy your trip!

Let the modding begin!!

Good choice on the X4 and American Muscle. The first improvement I noticed was the gain of low end power where these 3.7s lack. The street tune gave her some nice low end grunt but seemed to leave the higher RPMs in the dark. When I loaded the performance tune, I gained a decent top end pull but felt like the low end lost its kick. When I loaded the race tune and filled her up with top shelf, she evolved. I told myself I'd go back to the street tune because she's my daily driver and premium here in Chicago is $.50 more, but I have yet to switch back to 87. I enjoy the 93 race tune. I burned through about 5 tanks each time I loaded a new tune to make sure it wasn't a placebo effect. So be careful when you load the race tune... you'll have a hard time switching back to 87 octane. The tune also improved my fuel economy. Pair this tuner up with an AirAid cold air intake and you'll have transformed your quiet boring v6 into a roaring malicious machine.

**Edit:
By the way, I remember loading the street tune for the first time and having too high of expectations after reading reviews thinking I was going to get the power of a blower of something lol. Don't expect to notice an extremely huge difference right away. Drive it for a bit before switching tunes to get the feel of it. Hope this helps.

Thanks all, for the input. Not expecting outrageous amounts of power added, as I am a former forced induction driver, I know not to expect too much with boltons. Had custom turbo setup on '05 Tacoma 4.0L V6 pushing 309hp at the wheels on 7lbs of boost. Low end pull on my 3.7L just leaves alot to be desired. I have seriously been considering whether I made the right decision on the V6 vs the V8. Cost wise, yes I did, however, i am a power hungry guy. Plan on doing turbo system on this as well, just gonna take a little time to line everything up...maybe next year.

I always recommend that you take the car for a very spirited ride just before the install of the tune (and CAI if you ordered one), then load the lowest octane tune of those you ordered first and repeat that drive as identical as possible. Then load the next tune and so forth. Just be sure to have a tank of the octane that your highest octane tune calls for when you begin.

Put Shorty Headers , it helps with the low to mid range Torque. Smooth power from 1800 on up instead of passing gear at 3000.

You'll like the race tune. It's a wider power band. Put some better gears in the rear end and you'll have lots of low end torque. Once you start modding, you can't stop so have fun.
