Only you can answer this.
For some the 2014 GT500's 662hp isn't enough and for others the 1993 4cyl with its 105hp was plenty.

 

I regularly steal lunch money from guys in the new 5.0 while autocrossing (have also beaten quite a few GT500s), but have noticed at the drag strip that against a 4.6, the V8 has me for about the first 60-100 feet, then my power kicks in and I walk past. If he does not have really good tires, I have him on launch, but that is a result of my reworking of the car.

At he end of the day, it comes down to how you use it.
