Default 351 w vs c

A rather new guy question..Out of the Windsor and the Cleveland which is the better motor? Which is newer and where does the potential end for them (horsepower wise). I remember a coustomer from my work was bragging about his pantera and how it was a 180mph car stock with a 351 cleveland, but i dont know if thats true or not. Im sure someone has asked this question down the line or atleast a varation of it. But, if you can educate me, ill apperciate it, thanks.

clevelands will make more HP and toruqe ALOT easier then the windsor will. g to the classic section, and in the sticky area up top, theres the FAQs. in there are a few links over the Cleveland and windsor. so read through that

351w's are small blocks and 351Cs are big blocks. Both can make a lot of power. I think that C's can handle up to 800hp.

Only problem with the cleveland is that there are not alot of aftermarket parts for them. Also to make power you have to turn them alot harder and they don't live very long unless you address some oiling issues. The heads are great for stock irons but, they are heavy. You can install a Cleveland in a late model. There are just issues like headers, front accessory clearance, and a few other issue sthat if you were building a track car you would be upgrading anyway.

The windsor is the best choice for all the reasons mentioned above... an the windsor is capable of a whole lot more power than most people want or can afford... IMO

i have been running clevelands for yrs everyone says they have a oiling problems if there is i havent found it yet... My machinist tells me to not to turn them over 6000rpms but i turn them harder than that never spun a bearing have had a piston to fly apart but that was the machine shop problem they screwed me put cast instead of forge but i paid for forge but i can say the bang for the buck cleveland the motor for the small block everyone says its a big block but its not same bellhousing as 302-351w i have a cleveland in a 89 notch havent got to drive this one yet but in a 70 mach1 ran 7.00's only thing fiberglass was the hood. Ive ran w and 302 dont compare to a cleveland those big chamber heads just want mor fuel and alot of gear and they will plant ur *** to the seat

Wrong, the 351 Cleveland was not a big block. SVTBill, stick with the 351w, their parts are a lot eaiser to come by.
