Sparkplug leaking?
Hi gang,
Was wondering if any of you had this problem... I'm using Accel U-groove spaarkplugs on my motorbecause they fit my Eddy Rpm heads. Well, I've replaced4 spark plugs since I'vestarted using them this past summer! The problem is, after a while the ceramic core comes loose inside the plugbody.I get compressionleaking outthroughthe plug (not threads)[:@]!Obviously not good for performance.
I've never had this problemwithany other sparkplug brand before! Is this a common problem that I just never had before? or are the Accel's P'sOS?
Anyone know for sure? TIA!

RE: Sparkplug leaking?
autolite plugs are just as good as the 10 dollar racing plugs if your not running nitrious. sometimes autolite plugs will even last longer on the nitrious!!!!
the only thing that could actually cause the plug to break like that for no reason is if someone dropped the plug before you bought it.and, shattered it, real small where you couldnt see it..... OR.... its detonating breaking the porciline.
and that would be a timing problem,octane...
unless its an allout racecar, just run autolites or another plug, dont waste your money on expensive racing plugs.
my car runs 6.80s on the motor with autolites... if you have it tuned right, they will last.
i let my buddy take my car to the track with a bottle of nitrious, he came back and it was skipping and smoking,"head gasket" .....he turned the timing up too far, shattered 3 plugs from detonation. "trying to make it run faster"..

RE: Sparkplug leaking?
Thanks for the response Arrid. Yeah, my ride is N/A. No boost or juice. I thought to that maybe detonation cause the plug damage in the summer, but the plug I pulled tonight has only seen some idling to temperature in my garage, as it is put away for the winter. Probably right about a fracture being there already before I installed them! Thanks for the advise. I'm surprised about the Autolites, perhaps I'll try them.
