Default 408 stroker build

What's the best combo for a 408 stroker heads? cam? block? The reason I ask is I want an all motor 11.sec car. I've done all I can to my 302 soon nitrous will go on but before I did alot of suspension mods and some minor motor mods the car ran 12.20 at 112mph I haven't been back to the track since. The car feels stronger but I'm not sure it'll reach the goal of 11.90's That's why I want to do a 408 so any ideas on a build would be helpful??

A good set of heads and matching intake and cam with only 351ci will put you well into the 11's on motor. A well prepped 408 street motor will put you in the 10's on motor but you in either case everything has to match properly. What exactly do you want to do with this car? Do you want to drive on the street mostly or is it going to be a strip car with some street driving? Those are to vastly different cars completely.
Look at my combination inmy sig, this puts me in the 11's on motor(high 11's) and now i'm spraying a 125 shot into it in hopes of low 11's. But this a good combo with 8.8:1 compression on a stock bottom end lightning motor with out of the box heads and matching cam. Did i forget to mention that it has a dual plane rpm air gap intake? That one gets a lot of peoples attention after i beat them--especialy the guy in the old dodge charger with the hemi badges on the fenders.(he was real mad)..I beat him on motor only.

got about 2500 bucks for a set of heads and an intake?

chiheads.com and you WILL have a absolute monster. you'll be carbed or stand alone fuel injection that mounts on in place of a carb though, cannot use standard efi crap

I have built a TON of 408ci motors, all the way back to when you needed bowtie rotating components because Ford did not make a rod with the proper length, so perhaps I can be of some assistance. I like th eidea of finding a pushrod lightning block (that has become very popular and folks are getting good numbers with them) No matter what you do block wise retro block, new block, if it is a two bolt main, then girdle it. Cap walking will make the motor eat itself...period. I would recommend what most people are buying anymore, SCAT or an EAGLE balanced rotating assembly. Have all of the block prep work and final machining done at a reputable machine shop.

Heads I would say no smaller runner volume than 205cc, and if you can afford it, a full cnc head will promote healthy numbers.

You can have a cam matched dead nuts to the head, tranny and rear end gearing you desire to run, a good cam company can get you dead on what is optimum for your application for not a whole lot more than an off the shelf cam.

I have in the past always ran carb. I am building a fuelie this time with huge boost. Personally I would go with fuel injection if I had to choose between the two, there are tons of guy's like me who have been doing this for an eternity who stayed clear of fuel injection until the benefits were clear...Much more streetability. There is a ton of fuel management technology out there to handle it.

If you insist on carbed, then a 750cfm will adequately handle what I suggested above component wise. My last carbed car was a dominator car....but that is a whole different story. For intakes I would look into the Victor series intake manifolds. That is just my preference.

If you want to go fuel injection, my advice after years of research and trial and error would be the Trick Flow Track Heat "R" upper and lower. The lower can be modified beyond recognition by a companyReichard Racing to be fitted with a mondo "breadbox" upper in the future if you want to get crazy. That and out of the box the TFS Street Heat "R" lays down the numbers.

You can support this combo with 40lb injectors and 90mm Throttle body and 75mm MAF respectively.

Okay my wrists hurt.....P/M me for more components and vendors that can get you good pricing
