Default 351 Windsor

Hey I just picked up an 89 GT , and I planned on doing alot of work into the motor for more power . But my buddy told me he can get me a 351 windsor I just wanted your take on this motor any good . How much work is it to change over and will it bolt up to my 5 speed? It has 250,000 KM << canadian not miles and he wants $500 for it well he has 2 1 thats running in a car right now I havent seen and one pulled.

tell me your take , I was just learning about the 5.0L in the car right now but if this engine is better then fill me in

thanks

yes well the 351w is built in the same factory as the 302. so it will bolt in, but headers are needed. most of the 302 stuff will bolt on, except the intake (cuz of the taller deck height). but i am going to be doing the same thing. it will bolt to your stock 5 speeed and all other 302 trannies. good luck, if you need more info just ask or send me a pm.

headers really arent needed, 302/351w's share the same exhaust manifolds. however, manifolds are very crappy and are one of the first things anyone should ditch if your trying to make more HP.

no cause the manifolds are really short, so its the piping you hook to them that changes. headers are another story cause even long tubes in a 302 an be a tight squeeze

the lower intake is wider on a 351, the make some sort of spacer that would make a 302 intake work, but I dont remember who makes them, and they leak like the titanic anyway... an Edelbrock performer is cheap anyway
