Default 351 Roller Question

I am currently doing a swap on my coupe....i have a 351 and it is stamped a F4TE Roller block...when i tore into it i found that it does not have roller lifters in it...but it has the holes drilled for the spyder...can anyone tell mewhy it is like this and also what i need to use to replace to makeit a roller..and where can i get them...can i just use stock parts since it is already a roller block and is drilled or will i have to spend $400 dollars to retro to the aftermarket roller....i have always had 302's...this is my first 351 project and i am a little lost...any help will be appreciated...thanks

Default RE: 351 Roller Question

you need a roller cam for starters....then you can find a spyder tray and some rollers, I think you need different push rods too. as for you engine not having rollers in it, that could mean someone retro fitted with a flat tappet setup or (still not confirmed) some people have told me that 92-93 blocks were set up for rollers but didnt have them, so you may have a 92-93 block, if that rumor is true. either way the conversion shouldnt cost you that much, just do some looking on ebay you can find the spyder tray and rollers with the dog bones for relatively cheap
