Default 94 351W

Ok im getting a 94 but its coming with an empty engine bay...

Im going to put a 351W in it.

Ive read all of the threads about switching from a 302 to a 351 but i havnt really came across any about taking an empty car and putting a 351 in it...

What do you think it will cost?

Should i go with a stock ECU or should i get aftermarket one?

Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

The car was a automatic will it be hard to convert to a manual?

Thanks
Mike

Cost minus motor should not be bad, not too much more than putting a 302 back in it. If I were you I would investigate an aftermarket EMS, just my opinion, perhaps a piggy-back system. Total replacement systems as discussed on a different thread are quite pricey. Most of that will depend on how far you wish to go with your motor. A standard installation should be no big deal. I am not too familiar with that body style(I am a Fox guy) however if I am not mistaken it is a matter of a different cross member, and that's about it. I say with everything you need to make the conversion minus motor, a Tweecer EMS piggy-back system or the Mega-Squirt (which I no nothing about but AdderMK knows a ton) run about $600+ or the PMS system by Anderson Ford Motorsport about $900 with all the up-grades. Tranny.....$1500-2000. You should go ahead and go to a tubular K system which can run from $300 (D&D) to $700 (UPS). Probably puts you in the ballpark of about $3000 minus motor. Give or take $500 or so.

If you need links on any of this stuff p/m me. I'll be more than glad to help you find your way. And get with AdderMK about the piggy-back EMS systems, he reall knows that end of it well.

with out saying what you wanted to do with the 351w just a simple drop in and manual trany swap i'd say about:

351w from JY $450
t5 from JY along with everything for swap $400
new oil pan& pick up $250
new intake for 351w to clear the stock hood $300
misc parts, oil, coolant, trany fluid, etc... $200

i'd say about $1600

Well right now all i want to do is get it running...then i might sell the car or more than likly ill end up cuilding the 351 up to its max...and ill keep it...so basicaly i want to have it set up pretty good right now but also pretty cheap...

The car already has:

Cobra R fiberglass hood
BBK upper and lower control arms
full suspention, rear end with 3.73 ford motorsport gear
lowering springs
h&r front, steeda rear springs
bilstein front struts
kyb in rear

He also said that the car used to have a 2001 cobra engine in it...
