block choice
i'm saving to build a 393 for my notch i was wondering if anyone has experiencewith this blockor knows if this a quality block? also should i go siamese or non siamese? http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/...1&comp=LRS
the reason for going with such a strong block is eventually it will be a turbo motor, and someday i hope it will go into a cobra kit car so i want a motor that will last a long time at decent power levels, and can handle a couple rebuilds if necessary
thanks in advance

RE: block choice
but im not sure about the whole NOTE: Siamese blocks are solid casting between the cylinder bores. There are no water passages between them. This is done to increase the strength of the block. thing because wouldnt this cause the engine to over heat quickly?

RE: block choice
ya i was thinking about righting that block down as a possible block for my build...but then i saw that and it made me question whether or not this is a race block, What are your expectations for the engine cause if you get a 94+ block they accept roller cams, and if preped properly/tuned can handle something like 700hp.

RE: block choice
Yes you can buy that block in a non-siamese bore. However having ran the siamese bore block for a number of years I can testify that I have never overheated a motor.
BTW if you are going to go through the trouble of building a 393 why would you not jump up to the 408?

RE: block choice
iwould like a motor capable of decent engine speed, i know a turbo is gonna make the motor wanna keeprevving, andusually more stroke=less rpm....but keep in mind i'm not completly sure what these blocks can handle. Is your 408a turbo motor or n/a?
