Default 351 windsor

Ok so heres the deal. Im at wyotech right now and im starting my high performance power train class in about 6 months, and were allowed to do a project of our own. So i want and am planing on building a 351 stroker. My question is if i were to go with the junkyard motor route for the block what would be the best year block to look for? The block will prolly be the only used part cause $2000-$3000 is quite a bit. I would like it to be a roller motor and carbed. What do you guys sugest. Thanks

If you can find the coveted 1969 block that would be the way to go.

the 69 is a non roller block but one of the strongest you can find. should be good in the range of 600+ but theres really no magic number. I believe the roller conversion for a 69 will run you around 500 bucks.

i was told the 69 block was THE strongest.

roller blocks start in 94, FullAuto use to have a notch with a 351 roller in the 9s

94+ ford pickups with the v8 (5.8L) have the 351w. Look for F4 casting numbers.

No not a roller, like stated. But amongst the strongest that were built. It would be good for your project to go through the process of the roller conversion also. You would be into the block with the roller conversion for about $800-1000. Coveted means it is widely known as being a great block amongst Windsor folks and it is a much sought after item in the right cirlces.
