351w newb
Im looking at an 89lx with a 351w out of a bronco swapped into it. I dont know much about these engine so any info or links is appreciated. Stock hp/torque #s, etc. It has a 4 barrel carb and a proformer intake. Also, what are the advantages/ disadvatages of converting to efi? I still want it to be daily drivable and reliable. Any info/links appreciated. Thanks!

They were pretty mild motors really. About 250hp roughly 300ft/lbs of torque. But the potential is awesome. Converting to Fuel Injection makes the motor much more streetable with any modifications you might add. Tons of folks run carbs on the street, I did on quite a few Mustang project cars (although limited time on the streets because none of my projects have been very legal) But still, you can reap a lot of power out of that motor if you spend some time on here asking questions

Next get that thing breathing right, if you are going to fuel inject get good sizing on mass air and throttle body, a good breathing intake and a decent set of headers complimented with a modest cam (.500 lift or in that ballpark). That would be good for starters.
All of this you can find really good deals on from site sponsors, or catalog houses.
Late Model Mustang Restoration is a favorite of mine for odds and ends, Downs Ford, Anderson Ford Motorsports is another great one (and they offer package deals!)
To name a few.

I found a set of ported Power House Alum. heads for my 351. They cost about half as much as any Trick Flow or AFR's and are 200cc 2.05/1.60 Vlvs. Hard to beat if you ask me. You can get them standard, ported, or CNC.
