Default Fuel injection or Carb?

i have a 91 Mustang, 5.0L that is getting a 351W dropped in. I have the motor, so am starting to make a plan. A buddy says it would be easier to go back to Carb than to get a 351W dialed in with fuel injection. I know the basics about EFI, but thats about it. When it comes to computers and chips, I would be lost. Changing injectors and stuff, I could do.

Is it really that difficult? Where is the best place to go to learn about how to get a 351W running right with EFI?

Just take it in for a SCT dyno tune.

ok, so what is that? get the computer re-programed or something? and what does that do? does it like ...make all the sensors , like maf and O2 sensors get along better? or does it adjust timing?

Also, what does a tune like that cost?

sorry if i sound like an idiot. I really think it would be a damn shame to revert back to old technology, but the funny thing is, all the guys I see with stangs at the track, serious 10 second cars, are all carb guys. Might allow for more adjustment and dialingin MY garage rather than on a dyno.

If you have the 5.0 brain, it will need re-programming for the 351. Dyno tuning can run upwards of $60 an hour, at least here where I am. And there is actually a really great book on EFI Tuning that I am currently reading as I have decided to go the way of modern technology on my up and coming blower car.

So I have become a student again

From my experiences, Fuel injection is the way to go if you have the equiptment to tune it correctly for your build. The problem is, very few people have this equiptment, and find themselves having an easier time tuning a carbed motor. Me personally, I won't ever go back to fuel injection, and I certainly won't mod anything OBDII again.

If you have the brains and desire to sift through all the sensor bull **** and electronics, more power to you, it's just not worth it to me.

So how does one go about rewiring from fuel injection back to carb. I guess you would just need a 12v lead to a coil though your igintion (key), and voltage regulation and stuff. Whats the best way to do that? Grab a harness from a 82 or so mustang or truck or whatever?
I saw a plug by my master cylinder, sorta by the drivers side hood hinge. Is that what that is for? Also, where in the wiring do you eliminate fuel injection wiring. Lastly, does any of this wiring affect the electric fuel pump operation?

msd, get a distributor, msd 6 or 6al box which plugs into the dist, coil and that's it, i suck at wiring and even i was able to hook it all up
the fuel injection harness is seperate from the chassis harness ( lights horn wipers etc.) so you can remove all the injection stuff
