Default Area 351 project

ok folks, heres the deal......i gotta 2000 v6 mustang with a T5 tranny..............and i wanna drop a 1979 351w with a carb in it thats got 453000 miles. i want to rebuild the engine of course with brand new everything. i want my numbers to be around 500 hp at least. The question is what will i need in order to pull it off (swap plus engine build). dont tell me to just buy a v8, i gotta 03 cobra along with everyone else with blah blah blah bolt ons. i just wanted a lil sumthin thats gonna be different. Serious replies please!!! i have access to the machine shops and anything else. i just need to know what to do and what to expect. Price isnt an issue but i dont want the most expensive parts either. i want to build from the crank up.....then add a supercharger. Anyways, tell me everything you know please, the more the better. im already gonna install a cobra suspension/brakes and stiffen the chassis. the new k-member is in a box somewhere....i was also thinkin about keeping the EFI but whatever works best. and also what 6-speed tranny will bolt up to it.

um a 393 or 408 stroker with a vortech YSI ( i think that is what its called) or like a D1-s from procharger will definately get it there, go with either trick flow or AFR 200cc+ combustion with either an edelbrock or trickflow 5.8 efi intake, 75+mm throttle body 90mm mass air, big *** injectors. You will need a 8.8 rearend, probably 3.73 gears would be good, and for the 6 speed you should probably hit up D&B performance (i think thats who makes the swap kit). You will need to tear out all of your old suspension, rear end, wiring harness, engine, and tranny and replace it with a pushrod wiring harness, upr tubular k member kit is a pretty good product and the likes of it.

The wiring harness you have can be utilized but, it is a nightmare to do the conversion. Your K-member will work with the right swap mounts. If you want a simple change buy a totalled 94-95 Gt and swap the entire wiring harness. It just won't be emissions legal. You will also have to swap the dash cluster. I also wouldn't start with a 79 block. Non-roller and probably one of the weakest. Find a 71 to 74 block or a SVO sportsman (351). If you want more info just send me a pm and I will send you my contact info

www.sorscode.com has a forum section and write-up for this.

He has done and helped others with 302/351 swaps into late model
Mustangs, even using the EEC-V computers.

351 with .03 over bore, 200+cc heads, good cam, and 10.5 compression will make 500hp flywheel

408 with 225cc heads, custom cam, 11-1 compression will make 500hp at the wheels.
