my 351w build thread!
well guys,
I got a 351w in a trade for my 94 Thunderbird. Well I got it from Ron early saturday morning. I then unloaded it, settled up everything with the t-bird and headed out to work. I got home at 5:30pm. I was really bored so Myself and tony (my brother) decided to "attempt" to bring it down in my basement from out side on the porch. We got it u pthe step on the porch into the house. We rolled (on a U-Haul cart) to the basement door. We took it off the cart and set it down on the first step, took a 10 second breather, down on the second and so on! We got it down 6 steps, crushed one toe and hurt our backs. But we had to get it down 5 other steps. We did that no problem, We then pushed it across the whole basement to the "work shop". We then called it a night.
DAY TWO: This morning we pulled the heads off along with the intake. Then i called it a day for then. I then had some running around to do, So i went to my cousins house to pick up his engine stand. I then came home and researched about the bellhousing to engine bolts. I then went out to crappy tire. got some 7/16-14 bolts. I came home tested them, put the engine on the stand piece. I had t get me, tony, jeff, joe (all my younger brothers) to aid with picking it up on the stand completely. So I started to take off the oil pan. I drained the oil, and took the oil filter off. I took the pan off, then took all thew pistons, rods, and main caps off. I ran into a little problem. I just got a little frustrated so i took a couple hour break. Meanwhile my brother tony was sleeping down stairs. He came up and told me that he got all the rods, pistons out. I came down and then took out the crank, timing cover, waterpump. I then took out the cam, lifters, and everything esle. I now have a bare block, awaiting machine work.
***** If anyone here knows where to get a block bored, decked, and hot tanked for cheap let me know*****
Thats all for now. I will keep you all updated.

Its nothing special for a block. I will be swapping in a early block later on down the road. For now this will do. I cant find anything on the block for casting numbers yet. The paint is really ****tty! But i think its an 87 block. Good enough for now.
Ok guys. I got the thing complete apart. And cleaned up. I will be going to the machine shop tomorrow. I will talk to him about pricing and hopefully its a go. He quoted me 350 CAD before (new freeze plugs, cam bearings, decked, bored, hot tanked). So I have 350 set away just for this. But I will be picking up a set of .030 forged pistons, and a set of 6.125" forged i beam rods. I will be looking into a forged 4" stroke crank on thursday. I will be looking int oa probe forged unit. If I order it before Dec. 31, I will get an additional 10% off.
But I will keep you all updated, Nik.
