408 build carb help

RE: 408 build carb help
On holley's site they have a formula for which carb. CID x engine rpm / 3456
408x6500=2652000 / 3456 = 767 cfm
So as stated, a 750 might be a little small. I would go with a 800-850 and adjust accordingly.

RE: 408 build carb help
you guys are still missing the biggest part of my point. there is a huge difference between a racecar that stays at 6000-7000 rpm during the course of a race, and a car your going to drive around town which will see those rpms for literally .00001% of its runtime.
because i dont slap 750's on stock 351's? yousir, are a dumbass
well i guess i know how to tune engines to adapt and you haven't quite figured that out yet..

RE: 408 build carb help
I have a Pro Systems carb. It's based on a Holley 4150. They will build it to your specs and do an awesome job. They aren't cheap, as mine was just $900.00, but their customer/technical support, quality and product is well worth it.

RE: 408 build carb help
If this thing is going to see the street then you do not want to "over carb" a single plane intake or it will run like crap. If its going to see the street then a 750 will be fine. An 800 might be a decent compromise for a street/strip car if its going to see more strip than street.

RE: 408 build carb help
I am using a Quickfuel 750 HP on my 393, and love it. I used it for NA, then had them redo it for blow through to use with my Vortech. Works perfect.
I am converting it to E85 now using quickfuels E85 metering blocks.
