Default 351w w/2 bolt mains

Im thinking about buying a 1990 351w that is really affordable. BUT it only has 2 bolt mains. I read on another thread that on the 2 bolt versions you can drill and turn journals 2, 3 and 4 into 4 bolt mains? Is that possible? And If I were to leave the mains 2 bolt what kind of horse power could i make with out having to worry about hurting the motor. Im hoping to make around 4-450 hp. Thanks for any help.

making that power a two bolt motor will keep you plenty safe. I got a two bolt motor and am not that worried about breaking the block. I think the general concensus around here is that a post 74 productionblock is safe to about 600 to 650 horsepower without pushing it to hard.

I'm building an 86 326 stroker w/ a 351w with a2 bolt main. and a girdle. and as long as you have the girdle you'll be allset because it connects all the mains to act as one. they can't move seperate from the others.

400-450hp would be fine with 2bolt mains

he took the mains off a 351 and put them on his 302. makes sense. the 251 mains will be larger
