351w Stroker Opinions
im looking to put a stroked 351w in a fox body, but not sure which kit to go with. just looking for opinions from those of you who have built 351w strokers, or if maybe there's a website somewhere with dyno #'s to compare for each kit

well depending on your goals, either go with forged (strongest) or cast (reasonably strong). But I would go with a 408. As you can see I am in the middle of building mine. I have a probe street fighter kit. Cast crank and 4340 forged I beam rods, and forged pistons. I am looking for a reasonable 450 rwhp N/A. Then I will add a 150 wet shot of gas!

92 civy, where did you buy your stroker kit from and how much did you pay if you dont mind me asking...
why didnt you go with H beam rods?
I am also getting ready to swap a 351w in my fox and debating if I should stroke it

The I beams are light weight. I bought the piston and rods used. Then I just bought a brand new crank. The kit ended up costing me 800 total. The rods and pistons only have 3000 km on them. So they are like new! But the crank I got from a local shop.
The way I like to think of it is, If h-beam rods were better why wouldnt all the bridges be made out of it. Think about it, any type of steel beam is a I beam. If the H beam was stronger wouldnt all the bridges be made out of the stronger h beams? So I feel this way, SO I got the I beams instead of the h-beams. I had a change to get the h-beams over the I's but I didnt!

I went 408 as well with my conversion with my 89 but I went and bought a brand new Eagle bottom end, forged crankwith H beam rods and SRP5cc dishpistons all internally balanced by the eagle guys. Cost me1900-2000 for the kit butfigured I would go with the H beamsjust because they are rated for so much more horses then the I beams and spinning my motor to up and a shade over 7 grand I figured I would be safe.
Plusone of my firends built a chevy 393andhad some real bad luck with used parts so that played into it alot for me.

Well yeah I was kind of weiry about buying the used parts aswell. But PSP racing had gone through and assured me the parts were like new, Paul even went ahead and cleaned it all for me.

im going with a 418. i have a 4.100" crank, 6.200" rods and .030" over srp pistons with the .927 pin and 1.243" compression height, should make a little more tq than the stock 351w internals.
