393 stroker build, does this sound right?
Hi Everyone, let me start by giving some background. I am shopping around for a 94-95 sn95 5-speed that I am gonna swap a 351W into and make into a Cobra R clone. The purpose of the car is to be a street/strip car that I can drive to work in the summer and to the track on sundays. This is the engine I am thinking of building, just wanted to verify that all these parts will work and try to see if anyone has an idea on hp/tq numbers. My friend has a 02 Z28 that I would take pleasure in beating on a regular basis.
Junkyard 351W block (will use a comp cams roller conversion kit for the cam)
Camshaft: COmp Cams Thumpr Cam, hydraulic roller cam, .531 intake lft, .515 exst lift 107 deg lobe
Comp Cams High Energy Roller Lifters
AFR 185cc Cylinder heads w/ 60cc chambers
Trick Flow R-Series Intake Manifold
Coast High Performance 393 Stroker Kit w/ a compression ration around 10:1
The main question is about the heads, is 185cc's too small? thanks everyone

Personally I owuld use the 225's, But since your going to be street driving the car also, Get the 205's. Be sure to get a fully forged kit. Don't cheap out and tget the cast crap. It will only hurt you in the end if you decide to build it better.
But Try looking into other makes for the stroker kit,. I have a Probe 408 kit. Try www.fordstrokers.com.
Get rid of that cam, dont use retro fit rollers. It will limit your cam selection in a not roller block. Use the link bar lifter, and a custom cam if $$ can be spent on one.
Good luck with the build!

^ You times will be no problem.
Power will vary, But if you get a good custom cam, AFR 205 heads, 10:1 393", That "R" series manifold: I would say a good 350 or more at the wheels. Like I said, Power will vary. Its all in the tune, and how well its built.
I am building a 408w
Vic Jr heads
Super vic intake
850 carb
10.6:1
All forged internals
Solid roller cam:
Adv. Duration: 286/294
Lift: .624/.624
Lobe Center: 108
Then I iwll move to a solid roller jay allen camshaft after I break the engine in.
I am looking for 400-450 to the wheels!

I personally think 185s are little small. You will want to step it up to 205s or 225s. 185s are good street heads for 302s, they will be holding a 393 street/strip car back in my opinion.
As far as a the cam, I don't know I really agree with that either, but I don't know your whole build, so I would suggest a custom grind. Call any of the major players in cams, tell them your motor specs and what you want out of the car, and they will be able to get you something perfect.

^^ Yep, That car should fly! Mine will have the potential to run low 10's. But I will keep it detuned to a 11 sec street car! Also If your looking in to a custom cam (SOOO MUCH MORE POWER over a OTS unit), Talk to Jay allen. On www. s b f t e ch . com He is the man, But acustom hydraulic roller cam from him is 420 to your door.

That roller conversion kit uses a small base circle ductile iron cam, no good. There is allot flex in these shafts and great potential for breakage. You are much better off with a standard base circle roller and tie-bar lifters. It's going to cost more but it will be much more sound.
