Default Educate me on 351s

How easy is it to make 400-450 ish horses at the wheels?
How much does it cost to build up a decent 351 engine?
What, if anything, is needed to stick one in a fox (such as K-member, etc)?

Thanks

Switching from a 302 to 351w you'll need:

Headers
oil pan
drop mounts if you want them (or vert mounts)

K-member is not needed but does allow for more clearance, Thats why I got one.

But for 400-450 at the wheels you will need some good $ and good parts. I know a guy with a Probe 408w Stroker kit. He is running a cheap OTS cam, with old school J302 heads at 10:1. He had an edelbrock efi intake with 32-36 injectors. It was a lower end build but was built RIGHT! He layed 426 at the wheels for HP and tq.

So I would say a 357w-408w, super vic intake, afr 205-225 heads, custom cam, 11:1C/R, a nice 850CFM carb and 450 RWP is very possible.

Yes! Go with the 351, Qatar!

The factory 351's can hold a whole lot more than the factory 302's too.
I think they can handle close to 650-700 before cracking.

408w with the right parts can certainly make 450 at the wheel, not cheap though.

I'll pass on that one. I'll take the occasional late March snow over 100 degree weather.

When it hits 80 here I start sweating.[]

By the time June rolls around and I'm headed back to Denver it will be in anywhere from 110-125[&:][>:]

So this summer when everyone else is bitching about the 95 degree weather I'll be wearing a long sleeve shirt
