Default High performance oil pump?

What kind of oil pump would you guys use if you were replacing your stocker? My current pump is not getting oil up to my valve covers until after i get to about 2k rpm so i believe it need a higher performance one...

melling makes one where the bottom of the rotating gear inside is supported by the lower cover. i'll be damned if i can remember the part number but here's a pic of what it looks like. to compare, a regular pump has a smooth flat bottom cover and the gears inside just sit on them, there is no shaft sticking thru.

you better look elsewhere for the problem. Use a M83, regular windsor pump

He's right. A standard pump should easily get oil to the rocker arms at idle. You should be able to get the oil up there with a drill motor, which spins at far leess than idle. You have a problem somewhere else.

Do you see oil pressure at the gauge? If so, then the pump is working fine.

No oil pressure at idle but once i get moving and go above around 2k rpms the oil pressure shoots up on the guage almost to the top of it...

spin it in the right direction and you will...but if the bearings are worn a hv pump ain't gonna solve the problem..if your replacing stock on you need a stock one unless you have a huge build you don't need a hv

That actually sounds like a gauge problem. I'd put in a simple aftermarket gauge and make sure it's reading correctly.
