RE: 351 build
I think this is a little bit unfair....The advantages you have are to many to be close to anything that a normal person could get....not to say that it is your fault....some people are just lucky I guess.

RE: 351 build
It will definately need bored/honed as the cylinder walls are rusty. With a 70's motor I will be shocked if the crank does not need turned and the rods will most likely need some work as well. Since it needs bored you will need new pistons and rings and the cam is surely rusted badly inside that motor so it willneed replaced. What on that list are you going to buy used? You can probably find a cheaper carb and distributor but the rest you wont want to buy used.

What silentvoice is planning on doing is indeed possible, but quite difficult and labor intensive(sounds like he's cut out for it ). I actually did my 351w in a very similar way to yours. Granted, mine is a 94 roller block that was stored in a garage with a blown head gasket. When I first saw the motor I remember thinking,"Holy ****, this is gonna take forever to get into any reasonable shape." I started the project in august and now the block is ready to be assembled. It took me a while to get it cleaned, honed, painted, and the hardest thing was actually finding a 1/4 NPT thread tap for the two front oil gallery holes. <------- take note of this, the press fit style freeze plugs are trash and can pop out when under stress. I tapped mine and bought allen wrench headed type threaded plugs for it. The bore taper on my block was under .011 of an inch so i was able to get away with honing it myself.
I noticed that you plan on getting the crank turned undersized and maybe getting new rods. Summit Racing sells a crank that has a 4.00 stroker http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SE...0/?image=large
that allows you to use 302 pistons(shorter to keep compression ratio down), and stock length 351w rods. This combo on a 351w block bored .030 over will yield a displacement of 393 cubic inches. I would have done with this if my stock crank had to have a ton of machine work done to it.

i think youll be able to do it fairly cheap. i did mine with out breaking the bank and i used mostly new parts. think about it, its alot cheaper to do this swap then it is to do a 347 and make an equal amount of power. plus you have way more room to grow.
