Default some questions on my build plan

Planning on putting a 351w to replace my tired and worn 302.

Looking to get the 351 sportsman block (the basic cheapy from ford)
part number M-6007-J58 (http://www.fordracingparts.com/crate...smallblock.asp)

and doing a basic HCI swap to give it a little upmh on a budget.

Question 1 is: the engine reads as roller ready,
what do i need to convert it over to a roller cam.
ive been told i will need this:http://store.summitracing.com/partde...0&autoview=sku
as well as new lifters and pushrods.
is there anything else.

Beyond that plan is for some Patriot Heads or Gt40x's, and a Steeda #18 cam, and the typhoon intake (performer knockoff) i have now on my 5.0.

Any information would help, Thanks

I don't know your goals for this project, but those choices look weak.

well, it has to do what my car does now (~500 miles per week) but looking for more power since im rebuilding and spending the cash anyway.

im actually looking at the 351 shortblock from 50resto, but what would you suggest over this, i need to keep compression relatively low (9.5 or lower) and plan on sticking with efi.

Goals: id be happy with 350-375 to the rear wheels but anything over is not a bad thing.
reliability and driveability unfortunately hold some importance.

oh yeah, trying to keep the hole thing under 4 grand including the new hood, motor mounts, pulley brackets, and other swap necessaries.

was planning on 30lb injectors and a 70mm maf as well.

under 4 grand for 351 swap parts the motor complete and have some power ????

u could do it but,why dont u build what u want and then that way youll be happy as with your plans witha 351 with patriots or gt40x's and a small 302 cam at that i would not do such

i have a 351 w i am building slowly also on a budget but i got the whole motor for free pretty much in a killer deal i made and am planning on pulling out the mild cam and sticking in a cam around .600 lift with my twisted wedges on top that i will have some porting done and bowl work along with a air gap intake along with my longtubes and plan to make around 370-390 rwhp and that will be with a free block and still with what i paid for the heads and then cam, intake good carb, gaskets, and everything else i will myself have 300 grand in the parts and i already had the shortblock, headers,m. mounts and such, oh and i plan to put a 200 shot on it so i can get myself into the low 10's

so i suggest if u have another car to daily drive i would build it like u want it will be worth it in the end.

i agree to a certain point.

I want the stang to remain my daily driver

so im not looking to do anything insane but i do have time, my 302 will hold up for awhile.

i deff. want to stick to efi, for winter reasons.

I like the idea of the TFS twisted wedge heads, ill prolly stick with the typhoon intake

so my real big questions is for the cam and short block (just those little things)

the budget isn't solid, but i am in college so its not unlimited anyway, and im hoping my t-5 holds up for a few months after the swap.

For what you want I would go with a 347.

^^^it would be cheaper as he wouldnt need the block and rot. ***. ,headers and such and that money saved could make the 347 faster and stronger

i would think a non stroked 351 or even a mildly stroked 351 would make 350-400 rwhp more reliably then a 347 as well as keep the compression ratio down.

am i wrong?

The 347 will be lighter and the lack of 4ci wont change anything. With your budget and goals the windsor is a bad idea. Good luck
