is different than a 302, right????

If i want to upgrade, what kind of choices do I have?

yes it is different. MSD and such make good aftermarket ones

I found a guy with this one for sale

MSD PRO BILLET DISTRIBUTOR P/N# 8455

he says it will work in a 351 but all the info I see say it won't...what's the difference between them.

I run an MSD Pro Billet, I believe the part number may be similar to the one you typed above. I'll verify tomorrow AM, and get back to you. One thing you NEED to know is that the gears on the distributor will vary weather you have a Roller or a Flat Tappet 351W.
With that said, what year 351W is it?

I'm not sure what material roller/ flat tappet cams call for but I know 100% that they ARE different. If you look at the sticky's you will see a post from VRIStang. I believe that he goes into some detail about what you will need.

The 351W Distributor has a longer shaft and also the part that rests in the intake manifold is thicker than that of a 302.

I don't know what year the engine is but it iS a roller cam

There is one on ebay for $98 made in china of course. Not sure of the quality, but just wanted to throw it out there. It's for an efi setup, says 94 and up but I'm sure it will fit older engines converted over. I would like to know if anyone is using one?
