Default Top End Power Packages....

Hey guys i was checking out summit and looking into heads, cams, intakes, etc...and the Edelbrock Power Package comes up for like $1900 and seems to be a pretty good deal, ive seen a couple people on here with performer heads and i know the RPM Air Gap is a good intake, but id assume the cam they give you isnt great.

anyone have opinions on this package? or would it just be better to buy everything individually?

I have the rpm kit in a 351w in a 65. It sounds good and makes decent power, but I also was low on funds, so I went with the rpm kit. Supposedly makes 400 at the crank with a 351w, but I still find myself losing to many stock cars on the street. I'd go with a different setup.

what other kind of mods do you have to support it? i would be doing everything, full exhaust, gears, suspension, wheels/tires...where did you lack in the funds? did you purchase the whole package? did you ever find out what kind of numbers your really putting down? i saw that the package is rated at 400HP i figured at the crank

stock suspension, c4, 410s,posi traction, msd dizzy, msd ignition and coil,600 double pumper, full exhaust. Yes, I have the whole package with 9.9 ro 1 compression. It gets out quick out of the whole, but then everyone always seems to catch up. A honda once was dead even with me which pisses me off. Maybe I just don't know how to race. I don't know the numbers on it. The weak link in the stang is the c4 and suspension. It has to be the suspension since it's a 40 year old car, because in the new mustangs and fast fords mag theres this guy running 10s in a fox 302 with rpm heads.

yea that just doesnt seem right, and the cam they give you with the package is probably matched well with the heads. they say suspension is key, basically puts all of your power to the ground, that and tires. itd **** me off too if a ****ty honda was pulling me to :|

thanks for the advice man

if you are really serious about building a 351w and trying to make any kind of real power with it.. you need to throw out the idea of buying a "top end package"

gimmie a budget to work with and we can hammer out a good set of parts that will get you on your way to making some serious power

if you have 4-5k to toss at your motor... call Jim at fordstrokers and tell him that you are interested in a crate 408w

he will take it from there

well i dunno if i want to dive into a stroker 351 yet, hah im still kind of new to building engines, i was thinking of just building a beefy 351 and doing suspension/wheels/tires to support the power. so figure like 3 or 4k to dump into motor and 1k into suspension etc.

sorry adder, dont mean to jerk you around or anything with questions hah
