An example of how the numbers break down.

E is for decade(198x)
7 is for singular year which is added to above (1987)
T truck meaning the part came from the truck series of parts
E engine meaning this is an engine component.

C6AE 1966(A is body style) E is engine part
D9TE 1979 Truck engine part
F4TE 1994 Truck engine part.

keep in mind this is a 9.480" deck, NOT a 9.500" deck, and it WILL affect intake manifold choices...

as for there being a enough materials for a 4 bolt main, who cares?

if youre boosting the engine, the block itself isnt strong enough to handle enough to warrant 4 bolt mains, and if youre revving it to the moon, its too much bearing speed for the 3.000" mains.

get an aftermarket block with a 9.500" deck, 4 bolt mains with 2.749" main journals and you'll be set.

but otherwise the 69/70 blocks are nice pieces, just a a little harder to find some stuff for (just like a pushrod SN95...)
