Default 427w engine build

Hey guys, I had my engine built a while back and planned on running a Vortech V7 on it. Now after getting the car put together and driving it here and there, I am having second thoughts. To my knowledge the motor is pretty tame/mild. Per the specs below, what would I need to do to get it in the 600hp range? Would i have to do a lot? The car already has a water methanol kit that was intended for the blower, so I could raise the CR with no problems I hope. Btw, it is a street car that will see some track time but not much. Any help is appreciate.

I'm no engine guru, so I won't be much help. But can you describe what you mean by "tame" ?

Do you have any dyno or 1/4 mile slips on your setup now ?

Hey thanks. Tame as in not too aggressive. Attached is my engine dyno run with a carb setup, not fuel injected.

Based on your description, you might not be happy until you're approaching 4 digit territory. That, or you're not putting the power down effectively, and so you're not feeling the full grunt of the torque when you step on it.

I would recommend finding locals who have also built their mustang, and see if you can find one of those two scenarios and ask for a ride along to figure out what your car is lacking. Shouldn't be too hard to find someone pushing high HP, or someone with decent hp, and upgraded suspension/drivetrain. After a few ride along butt dynos you will know what yours is lacking.

Thanks C1Forged. Right now, the car will sputter/choke if i give it full throttle. That being said, it definitely needs a tune. I think the fuel system combo I have isn't working well on a NA motor intended for for a SC. I think the 120lbs injectors are throwing in too much fuel or it could be just the tune. It's tough because I have the blower but I think I'll be happier just cruising around NA. That being said, I'd like to get the full potential out of the motor I have.

Sputter/Choke is definitely a tuning issue, and the injectors should be fine, they just need to be dialed back a bit in their duty cycle. As for the Blower, I would still recommend installing it, as the benefits of a Supercharger is no lag, and so the power delivery will be linear and smooth like a N/A motor.

Hmmmm.......536hp/524trq = TAME ??? You either have serious personal issues or incredibly high expectations lol.

Seriously though, after the swap to EFI, has the car been back for a tune ? From the way it's running it's way off and I'd bet your drivability issues will disappear and you'll finally feel that 500+ ft/lbs.

Time for a dyno tune, then we'll see how happy you are.

I have a feeling the tameness comes from not having a proper tune for his setup. But then again, it all depends on who the person is and what they've done in the past. Anything slower than a 9 second car feels tame to me, but thats because I've been in cars that run 7s.

Lol... I definitely have tuning issues. I still haven't felt the true power of this motor. I was just throwing around the idea of either getting the most out of my motor NA, or keeping the blower idea. Btw, if any of you are wanting to or know someone who wants to modify their SC bracket to fit perfectly on a 9.5 deck height block, the guy who did mine did an outstanding job. It fits all head and block holes, and fits under the hood. I think he said he would charge around $250 for the modification.
