Need help with gear part numbers!!!!
Hello Currently going through a gearing mess.
Dealer installed 3.73s I provided as a favor.
I took them the 3.73s that came in a Motive box that was supposedly Ford Racing.
Two installs and still whining.
I understand there is a new revision of gears that stops this noise.
According to Ford Racing parts this is the part number
M-4209-L373M
but doesn't the M mean made by Motive? Which everyone is saying is a bad thing?
I keep reading about the 3.73s made by Ford Racing but where are they??????
THANKS!!
I am desperate here!

RE: Need help with gear part numbers!!!!
I just read a post somewhere that said FRRP doesn't make the 3.73's. You're probably right, those are motive gears. As far as the whine, it may go away and you may have the same problem with FRRP gears as the installer might be the problem. I took my gears to a shop that does nothing but differentials and were experts, IMO. I wouldn't trust my Ford dealer to install an air filter, let alone gears (no offense to Blackfoot).

No offense taken, but my dealer is awesome!
ANyone know whats with this new revision!! I keep reading the new revision stops the problem.
Also I am concerned about pinion angle?????? My car sits a little lower due to audio equipment in the trunk....................
Maybe that is whining?

hey.. i actually just made a post about this before I read yours....
my frpp=motive gear post
Buyers beware...
There is a part number on the gear, ther is a letter you can go by to tell this, its either an N or an M. However I think all FRPP gear part #s say MXXXXX on the box.
