PLEASE HELP!!!
Today I decided to do my first oil change on my new 2006 v6 mustang. Problem is my dumb a** drained what I think is the automatic transmission fluid
Kind of in a bind cause I cant find where to funnel it back in under the hood!! Any suggestions? Once I fix that problem I still cant find anything else that looks like an oil pan. The liquid that drained out of the pan I drained is red and too thin to be the oil. PLEASE HELP!!! Im stranded until I figure this out.

Someone else here did the same thing I think he had to drop his trans oil pan and fill it up then install it.
Try the search feature for his post.
There is no top fill. A special tool is required to refill. I do remember someone on the boards posting the same problem and they were able to get enough back in the trans to drive it to the dealer and have it topped off.
I can't find the post and I don't remember what board I saw it on.

well, thats exactly what Im going to do from now on. I changed the oil in my old ranger and never had a problem... oh well... ill prob have to have it towed to the dealer tomorrow

I have a 5spd manual, so im not sure what the happs is on the auto... so you guys say there is no top fill, isnt there a way to check the fluid level, like a dipstick or something for the tranny? Probably another way to FORCE you to go to the dealer for service...lol
the owners manual says there is no dip stick to check the fluid levels...must be done by an 'authorized dealer' Do you guys have any idea how much $$ this will cost me to get refilled with tranny fluid? I have AAA so I can get it towed to the dealer for free. Just need to know how much Im going to be out to get the fluid refilled.
Here is the post, if you decide to do it this way I would also measure how much trans oil came (if contaminated) out via empty quart bottle so as to make sure you replace the right amount.

hey guys you may of read my oil change disaster post and people were saying how i had to pay a bunch $ to tow it to the dealer than 100 dollars to get the transmission fluid replaced with their special tool. and how it was impossible to do it ourselves. well i went under the car unbolted the pan itself filled it up and bolted it back on! so instead of being a coward and wasting $ taking it to ford. i did it my self and it worked out great. i took it out for a test drive and it felt as good as ever. and there are no leaks.i sure stuck it to the man (ford and the jerk who said it was impossible for us to do it ourselfs)

I just did an oil change on the 'stang for the first time 30 min ago.
The oil drain plug is in the oil pan on a 45 degree angle about 6 inches in front of where the oil filter hangs, it's black like the pan and is hard to see under there without some light.
I have always changed my own oil, and have heard about the old filter gasket sticking to the engine causing a leak.
But have never had it happen to me until today... good thing I checked it or I would have wasted at least a few quarts of synth oil at $5 a quart.
The oil drain plug is 13mm by the way.
