Default Gear Question

I was looking at getting the LSD, but everyone is saying to get gears as well.

What ratio to get?? And what will it do?

What are the advantages to the gears...performance?..acceleration?

Are there any disadvantages to the gears??....decreased gas mileage??

Where do you get the gears?

T-Lock?

How much for install?

Where did you get the install

Was it worth it

4.10s and you will still get well over 20 mpg

my PERSONAL experience with the FFRP t-lok is that it is crap, they have been known to break on stock split port SN95 power i would recomend a detroit true trac and a rear girdle while you are at it

lol thats the most wrong info i ever heard!! the smaller the ratio the better the gas milage!!

when you get 4:10s youll get crapy gas milage with amazing off the line acceleration.. with

2:31's youll get godly gas mialge, but youll be as slow as ***** off the line, but youll be governing out at 118mph, isntead at 3500rpm in 5th youll be at 2500rpm lol

2:31's is an axmple as a rule of thumb as to how gears work in laymens terms

You also need to consider your speedometer, which will be off after changing the rear-end gears. A tuner can fix that problem. And if you are going to get a tuner, you should get a Cold Air Induction (CAI) at the same time (combo pricing is lower than buying them separately).

I went with the tuner /CAI first, and will get gears/LSD later as funds allow. And I have NO regrets buying the tuner/CAI for my 2005 4.0L.

not to ruin his questions but my stang is pretty much bone stock, just have a homemade intake on it. I usually drive alot of freeway...like 65-80 mph 4-5 days out of the week to and from school. What would be a better gear to get?? 3.73 or 4.10?? Will a 4.1 just eat my gas mileage up??.....by the way, my car is AUTOMATIC!
thanks for any help,
Mike
