Wow it actually does make it safe if you downshift on accident? I heard it did but i was always nervous to try and just see. So if im doing like 65 in drive and downshift to 3rd itll wait til im going slow enough to shift?

ya i shift like that except i never used o/d (i wanna hear the engine duhhhh) then my dad told me to stop it because of the bands in the transmission can snap (which makes the car jolt) and can screw it up bad (i still do it occasionly, like if i race someone haha)
you have to remember that dad's always think that kids are going to break something

haha ya he also said that the shaker 1000 was about to blow up when i was blasting it haha

ford calls the auto tranny tiptronic on the website...so it should be fine
Where did you see this? Eveerything i saw just said optional 5-sp auto, which is what it is. A straight auto. Tiptronic is a gated gear selector for a straight auto, we don't have one.

Not that tiptronic is any better then a straight auto, but shifting it by 1-2-3 isn't either., just let the tranny do what you paid 1k extra for it to do.

i remember when i was looking for cars on different websites, the 5spd auto had "tiptronic" beside them

since i had the car i have been wondering "what kind of weird-*** tiptronic is ford making?"

I tried this one day, the car was really sluggish... the computer didnt know what I was trying to do... it held back alot of torque... so I just leave it in D.. buy a Mazda if you wanna shift an automatic.. the shift pressure is at a nice level on the manumatics... shifts are crisp and willing... ex Mazda3 owner.. i traded in my Mazda3 because I knew that it couldnt fly faster than 200HP with an Auto... it was either a $30K RX8 6spd auto or a $22K mustang with 5spd auto.. the mustang makes more torque, so thats why i got the stang.. V6!!! saved mucho money in the process...

I'm not 100% certain on this, but I've been told that the reason they call it an "automatic" is that it does the shifting for you.

Really, I have a friend who used to shift his automatic and every single person that ever drove with him told him it was really goofy. He also goes through cars ALOT faster than an average person, if that's any hint.

Our cars are faster when left on D with the over drive off. I have tried shifting it manually on several ocasions and it always slows it down...plus you run the risk of hitting the rev limiter which kills your run . As someone already said...the computer does it better....
