Engine Shaker System, what does it do?

I have been trying to find this information for a while now. What is a shaker system for the engine, and what does it do or not do? All I know is that it mounts on top of the intake and sticks out through the hood and it shakes, other than that, I am in the dark. Thanks for your help!

Its mainly just for looks I know you can buy the ram air delivery system as an option but no proven results on how efficient it really is might be good for 2-3 HP in the upper MPH range.

Ill just say it belongs in the appearence section, cuz all it does it move with the engine, and look frikin' awesome doing it.

Yeah it does look pretty mean. "Shakes" with the engine. I say it will help bring some good air to the engine.

it looks cool. it's the same as the setup on the mach1, and just like the mach1, it doesn't provide any real gains, creates aerodynamic drag, but looks cool when you roll up. i think the shaker system that they've developed for our bodystyle looks a bit small personally.

The shaker system is sick looking it's a throwback to days of the musclecar wars. I wonder what kind of weatherstripping system if any they have though?
