Default 3.55 Gears?

Hey everyone,

The next mods will be the driveshaft, T-Lok, LCAs, and gears. I don't plan on going over 3.73s, but I was thinking a happy medium would be 3.55s. The thing is, I haven't found much on them and I'm not sure where to look.

Does anyone have or have experience with 3.55s? Know where to get them?

Thanks for your help!!!!!

There are no 3.55 gears for the 7.5 rear end butyou can buy a complete Ford 8.8 new with 3.55's for around $850.00

That would be why I can't find them!!!!

So, next question...would it be better to just get 3.73s and the T-Lok or get the entire 8.8 rear end? Can the 7.5 handle a turbo or supercharger?

Prices are from memory if I remember correctly.
7.5
Gears $159.00- $200
Bearing kit $99.00
T-lok $149-$199
(TruTrack $425.00 stonger than a t-lok,TT imo for manual esp if going FI and to the track.)
Labor $300.00 - $500.00 to set up the 7.5

Labor to install 8.8 guessing around $200.00 but something you could do myself but up to you.

Your decision

Curious, why go 3.55's if you have 3.31's? Way back when , when I had a 98 v6, I went from 2.73's (I think that was the ratio) to 3.73's and it felt the same. I have 3.73's in the garage waiting to go in the 06' and I'm hoping I made the right choice. Was thinking of 4.10's.

One thing I remember with rear ends is to find a reputable shop. The first shop that did mine nearly ruined my rear end. I then went to my local mustang club and got a refferal to Exessive Motorsport that set them up right.

Typical install should be $250-320 for labor.

Krazer did his home work. Hes posted the prices that look right to me, minus the 500 labor price. I now have a 8.8, had a 7.5 w/4.10's and later 3.73's before the 8.8. No, I never broke a rear end yet! Yet.

If you are running juice or a turbo with a ton of TQ, or dropping the hammer at 5k. I would get a LPW girdle or TA Girdle. You will need a panhard relocation bracket, you can get them from Powerhouse (that is where I got mine) or BMR.

mpsautosalvage.com has 3.73s for $50 used, there is nothing wrong with their used gears, or any used gears as long as you check the teeth

a detroit true trac and a TA rear girdle and your good for over 500 rwhp

Rygen, why didn't you go with an adjustable panhard bar? I'm curious because SCCA rules prevent relocation of suspension component attachment points.
