Default Traction control

I have an 06 auto w/pony pkg
The other day I was stuck on some ice Driver side was spinning like crazy while the pass. side did nothing on dry pavement T/C light never came on My understanding was when the t/c detects slipping it will apply braking to the wheel thats spinning to allow the other wheel that has traction to become the drive wheel Thus avoiding getting stuck
Am I correct in assuming this is the way t/c is suppose to work and if so since the light never came on I assume the t/c is not working properly?
Before I bring it back to the dealer is there another way I can double check this (without trying to take a corner at 80+ mph?)

Default RE: Traction control

do you have trac control? i think its set up on the s197s though so it will only kick on if it goes sideways,

a LSD would help alot more as well
