MRT MUFFLER VS FLOWMASTER
hey guys and im new at the forum, i have an stock 06 mustang v6 and i decided to start my mods, i already swap the leather seats for the cloth i got a deal on ebay for the shelvy 500 leather seats the black and red they are awesome only paid 450 for them, installed them my self ill put a picture later......but i wanted to know urs opinion on the mrt vs flowmaster as far as perfomance and which one last longer..........eventhough i already placed the order for the mrts cuz i only heard good things from them....hopefully the drone isnt that bad.............thinking about the c&l and xcal2 any suggestion............
I had the single MRT...........when I first got it.......I loved it........but them over time the drone got to me........i couldnt really hear my fiancee over the drone......so i sold it and got a pair of GT american thunder flowmasters.....they sound really nice.......the exact sound I was looking for.......there is some drone but not near as much as the MRT......as far as which will last longer.......I would have to say the MRT because it is stainless steel all the way through.....the flowmasters only the tips are stainless. If you like really loud...then the MRT will be fine......if not....and you would wanna take the next step down.........i would definetly say go with some GT american thunders!

yea the mrt are much louder and and the meanest out there. the flowmaster is just as mean but at a lower volume. the mrt just sounds like and uncontrollable beast big head turner. some people can deal with the drone, some cant hopefully u can. haha enjoy the mrt. I wish i had one, i have pypes, real nice, but no mrt
There's also a difference in the sound that these two mufflers make.
The MRT sounds a bit more like a european sports-car type noise, a big more high pitch sounding. The Flowmaster, on the other hand, makes a bit of a deeper, more growling sound when you want on it.
MRT = racecar. Flowmaster = muscle car (or at least that's what I equated it to.)
The MRT will probably last longer due to being completely stainless, but the Flowmaster has some paint on it which might keep it alive for a little while.
The tips are also different. The MRT tips come out way farther past the back of the bumper, and they're straight cut. Flowmaster tips are rolled, and don't stick out as far past the back end of the car.

However, the tip did stick farther out than I liked so I had my local muffler shop adjust this and they also moved and rewelded one of the hangers for a much better fit to my car. All for $40. Money well spent.
I don't really have much of a problem with drone. On the freeway, yea it starts to drone quite a bit, but nothing the radio can't fix. Around town i dont really have a problem at all though, maybe it's the way i drive compared to the others that have had drone problems or something. I agree with the racecar point. At low rpm's, it is deep and rumbly and still pretty loud, but when you floor it, it gets higher pitched and sounds like, like someone else said, a european sports car and very loud. I love the sound personally and get nothing but compliments on it. At mustang alley, two other mustang owners stopped me to ask what kinda exhaust i had
. One owned a fox and stopped me while i was driving to my spot

oh yea........i forgot.......to mention the tone of the two..............the MRT to ME was a bit ricey in the higher RPM's....the flowmasters that i have on now have a really nice growl and rumble to them that I love.
i concur on the fact that the MRT has the sound of a race car...but if you think about it, we only have a v6, so we cant get the "muscle car" tone no matter what we do.
the flowmasters are sick, but (and correct me if im wrong), they wont show as much of a gain as the MRT.
