Default headers, why?

so if what most people are saying on here is true, that headers dont show any gains, then why are they on the market?

is there a benefitto headers besides the asthetic value?

ive been thinking about getting them, and keeping the single v6 MRT axle back, but if it isnt going to improvepower...????

i could think of better ways to spend $600.

it helps with getting a better sound out of your exhaust but its not that much of a difference. but the main benifit of getting new headers is if you plan on going forced induction. thats when it will show the gains comparing them to the stock ones. if you dont plan on going f/i anytime soon than you dont have to get them becuase the stock ones aren't that bad really.

Default RE: headers, why?

i am planning on going F/I in a year or so.

i want to get her built up to that point. i have plans for the rear end in the works now, im looking into adding on to the transmission (i have a manual), and all the exhaust components i want switched out.

i just cant see spending that much on something that isnt going to benefit me.

maybe thats just me.

Headers help me. Just depends if you want to eek out every 1 or 2 horsepower from your car. But you will be ready to make the most of FI if you go that route later.

long tubes or shorties? long tubes will help a bit, shorties are pretty much pointless and are pretty much whats on your car stock

everyone can say they are pointless. but i put down over 212rwhp. i dont think anyone but rick has had those n/a numbers (without meth injection).

boss and i are the quickest two n/a cars, we both ran jba headers.

coincidence?

I see it like this, you car is only as strong as it's weakest link. The headers in combo with other mods may not add 10 hp, but they will make the most of what you have. I had a ton of mods last april and could only run 14.9. That included t-loc with 3:73's, shorties, intake, tuner duals. Then I changed my fuel filter and ran 14.6. Now I have long tubes and JBA powercables and my car runs smoother and gets better gas mileage. The wires didn't give me any more horsepower, the stock ones were the bottle neck in the system. I saw a gain because the stockers were not working as well as they could. Soon I will see if the long tubes are "pointless", but I can already tell they aren't.
