Default RE: 7.5 to 8.8 swap

i can't stress this enough. switching to a ford T-lok doesn't strengthen the 7.5rear. it is actually weaker than the stock Open rear as the 2 housings are basically the same casting but the T-lok is opened up to accept the clutchpacks.

i have seen alot of them break and the clutches wear out fast.

if you want a 7.5 that will be stronger than a stock 8.8 then get a Detroit truetrac. you can alkways add a TA girdle too with a panhard relocation kit

truetrac, girdle and your good for 500rwhp except the axles> Alloy USA axles from summit are a good option for those running a poweradder

the T-lok will survive longer in an auto but they are known to break on hard launches on 5spds at just 200rwhp/200ftlbs torque.

my old t-lok was warped and had stress cracks in the casting and the spyders were loose and had some pretty good chunks out of them.

so you're saying the ford racing t-lock on v6mustangstuff.com wouldn't be worth my time? i'm also debating the 8.8 swap or the 7.5 rebuild...

theres alot of factors in the and its highly debated, the tlok is about as strong as the stock ford open diff, i blew the spider gears out of mine in about 10-15k of me driving the car, but i also drive it the way it was ment to be driven, so on an auto, its hit or miss, but any kind of FI or even full bolt ons and i would pass on it, for a 5 speed i dont even think i would bother if you do anything more then 2k clutch drops or run any tires with a ~250 rating/DRs

you might be lucky with a while and the tlok might last a little while, but you could just throw a detroit in it and not worry about it

also ive blown up 8.8s on stock MACH 1 power

My 8.8 swap was done yesterday. Using a lift and airtools we had it done in less than 90 minutes ...

I have a 8.8 from my 06 GT just sitting on my garage floor. It had about 4000 miles when I put in the Currie 9". Also has stock driveshaft attached. Car was a manual so should have 3.55 gears which was stock for that year. Anybody want it?

Wish that I was ready to make the swap Forensic - I've been thinking that when I go with the 8.8 I want the 3.55's along with my supercharger. This isn't the right time of the year for me to justify to my wife spendingcash on my car though!

Forensic, How much for the rearend with gears? I might be interested. I am in New Jersey as well, so shipping needs to be addressed as well.
Thanks

Sorry for delay in responding blackstang14.

$350 for 8.8 rearend, 3.55 gears, and stock driveshaft still attached. My whole transmisson is in Long Island right now being upgraded. UPS came pick it up and took it away. Two days later, it's in Bay Shore.
