3.73 or 4.10's
Mods please give this a little exposure before relocating it I know this has been asked before, but I want to get some feedback before next week on what our 4.0 group says. V8 owners, I appreciate your feedback but I am specifically looking for practical application experience, results will vary on your GT.
I was going to get 4.10's but I keep hearing different opinions from different people.
I drive my stang daily to work, I do alot of highway driving around Houston, avg. 70-80 mph. My work commute is usually 40-60 mph. My stang is an auto.
Which gear should I get and why?
How much of a gas mileage difference is it between 3.73 and 4.10's?
How much more engine wear will I get with 4.10's (and is it even an issue if I do regular maintainence?)
How much performance difference between 4.10's and 3.73?
Shoot me some feedback please.

RE: 3.73 or 4.10's
I'm with you Oddesey, I also drive 40+ miles each way to work (Pasadena - Eldridge/290). Mornings is non-stop 70 - 80, afternoons it is just the opposite, in fact I find it better to shoot thru town Texas - Harrisburg, etc.
I've read on this site that 3.73's for a 5-speed and 4.10's for auto, I am planning on 3.73's in the future.
One question, is thge T-Loc necessary if you don't race?

RE: 3.73 or 4.10's
From what I have read and seen 4.10's for Auto and 3.73's for Manual Trany. Check out the post I put on the T-LOC post and give that guy a shout out I think he has some good addvice on the matter at Chips v6 Specialties you can not beat or find a better price on a T-LOC but I have not got one from him yet. web page is http://store.chipsv6specialties.com/c75tr719.html I would think he would welcome any questions you may have. I do not Race or Drag my car so I intend to keep the same stock gears for gas mpg.

RE: 3.73 or 4.10's
i ordered 3.73's for my auto which should be arriving today. my stang is not my daily driver, yet i still didnt feel like jumping too high with 4.10's. i have no race intentions except for my car being a weekend fun machine and road trip traveler. i've read MANY posts and reviews on both gears and just felt that 3.73's would suit my preferences better. As for the t-lok, i will be ordering that today or tommorrow. after spending the weekend in vegas, where it had rained some which made the roads slick, i am anxious for the lsd. i was sitting at a light and when the green light lit i accelerated mildly and my "ONE" tire slipped and i was just still sitting there at a green light with a spinning tire trying to go. i had to let off the gas and start over even more mildly to catch traction. this felt kinda lame which made me realize how important an lsd is especially for modded stangs. if you are going to start moddding your stang, add a lsd to your list!!!

RE: 3.73 or 4.10's
I have no experienece with 4.10s, but my experience with the 3.73s has been great. The car is more responsive all around (launch and highway). I do have trouble with traction off the line with the 3.73s.. that might change in the summmer.. but I would expect more traction issues with the 4.10s.

RE: 3.73 or 4.10's
^^^ haha....ur like the 4.10 advocate. ur points are understood but then again, why doesnt all NA stang owners go with the demolet or c&l intake? those two put down the best numbers yet we realize that its all about personal preference and intentions. not all want to mess with the ecu just like not all "need" the high reving 4.10's. again, i'm sure the 4.10's are hella fun but i'm just looking for nice/non excessive jump in acceleration. i'm sure others who are considering 3.73's feel similar (unless they are going f/i).
