T-Loc absolutley necessary?
If I get a set of 3.73's, do I really, really have to get a t-loc installed? I don't race, just normal street driving. I want some added pick-up is all. I mean, If I don't floor it, and I'm not spinning wheels, why do I need one? Will I be spinning with the bigger gears at half-throttleoff the red-light?? Thanks.

If you get gears and do notinstall the T-lok youWILL regret it down the road. Withouta T-lok and the stock 3.31 gears it was very easy to spin that one tire on my V6. With 3.73s and noT-lok it is going toplay hell on just one tire and look dumb too. Iinstalled an 8.8 w/3.55s and am glad I have the T-lok. In fact that is the main reason I changed the rear in the first place was to get the T-lok. Even V6 Mustangs should have T-lok from the factory andESPECIALLY if 3.73s or 4.11s are installed. You have spent a lot of money on performance mods for your car, don't go cheap now!Get the T-lok with the gears.

I just went through the same question, originally plan was to just change the gears for 3.73's and at the last minute decided to include the T-Lok diff.
The difference between one wheel spinning and the car just going is amazing, without the T-Lok the seat of the pants improvement will not be as noticeable.
At the same time I installed an underdrive crank pulley, and also have C&L cai with SCT tune. Overall performance is great.

get the posi. you can get away with open diff on the stock gears but not with 3.73 or higher. your car will rev much faster and you'll find yourself doing one-tire burnouts more often than you'd like. your acceleration may suffer some also since it will spend more time trying to gain traction which could defeat the purpose of gears in the first place. get-er-doneright the first time .

Your sig does not state the size and brand of tire.
This makes a big difference in the tire spinning department.
A T-Loc is dangerous in some situtions sending some forum
members into guardrails and such.
I just stuffed 255s under her. Its hard to spin a tire. It just gets
up and goes now. She has 3.31s so maybe with 3.73s I could
actually spin one of them and need a T-Loc in that situation.
www.newtakeoff.com has 8.8, 3.73s, T-Loc, all factory set-up
with the neededV6 pinion flange installed for under $900.
