Cams on a V6?
Does anyone here think it would be beneficial/worth the money, to put cams on a 4.0 v6? i have been thinking about it and just wondering if any of you have done it and if the benefits are worth it?

Not many folks have installed cams on their 4.0L's. PowerHouse USED to sell them, but they stopped offering them due to the complexity of getting theirs properly degreed. Very few PH cammed 4.0L's exist. Super Six Motorsports offers custom cams and heads (Ford heads that are machined). I do not have a handle on the number of those that have been sold and installed. Blow-By Racing has been talking for over a year about offering cams & heads, but at present it has only been talk (although I heard they MAY be ready to do some testing, but only on new/machined heads - not cams).
Installing cams & (reworked) heads is not an easy undertaking. They are relatively expensive (figure on spending about $2K +/-), require a custom dyno tune, and the results are mixed. That said, there IS a benefit to installing them on either a naturally aspirated (NA) or forced-induction (FI) 4.0L. One of the PH-cammed 4.0L's (NA) was getting similar numbers to the 4.0L with an X-charger. Better cams and heads will also allow a FI 4.0L to squeeze out more power. But you have to weigh if the added power is worth the expense. It still remains somewhat uncharted territory.

Who is getting 300 rwhp with an X-Charger? Of course that's non-intercooled for now. The typical numbers I remember seeing were in the 280-290 range (non-meth, hi-po kit on a 4.0L/auto I believe).
I tend to agree - the X-Charger is a better route than going heads/cams. But if money is no object, then do BOTH!
